Au Pied du Cochon
Verdict: Walk
Insanely decadent place that specializes in foie gras. Anthony Bourdain came on one of his food escapades. Poutine is fantastic, the rest is overrated.
Item: Foie Gras Poutine, Duck in a Can
Comments:
One word the describe the spot: rich
You kind of need to go here if you come to Montreal because it’s just such a staple and household name (even the greats like Anthony Bourdain have dined there)
We don’t love foie gras most of the time, but it actually kind of worked nicely on the poutine, which was easily the best thing we tried that night
We would try to get a nice light red wine that’s high in acidity and brightness to balance it out such as a Beaujolais (100% gamay)
The Duck in a Can was pretty underwhelming taste-wise —> feel like it’s just a gimmick
You definitely need a reservation to get a spot here so do that a month in advance
