Au Pied du Cochon

Foie gras poutine

Verdict: Walk

Insanely decadent place that specializes in foie gras. Anthony Bourdain came on one of his food escapades. Poutine is fantastic, the rest is overrated.

Comments:

  • One word the describe the spot: rich

  • You kind of need to go here if you come to Montreal because it’s just such a staple and household name (even the greats like Anthony Bourdain have dined there)

  • We don’t love foie gras most of the time, but it actually kind of worked nicely on the poutine, which was easily the best thing we tried that night

  • We would try to get a nice light red wine that’s high in acidity and brightness to balance it out such as a Beaujolais (100% gamay)

  • The Duck in a Can was pretty underwhelming taste-wise —> feel like it’s just a gimmick

  • You definitely need a reservation to get a spot here so do that a month in advance
