El Chigre 1769

Squid ink paella with fresh baby shrimp

Verdict: Walk

The shrimp on the squid ink paella is the best of the best. You come here for a cool vibe but we found the service to be lacklustre and it was a bit touristy. Great spot but only if you are in the area.

Type: Spanish Tapas

City: Barcelona, ES (Old Town)

Grilled octopus

Comments:

  • Top 3 places we ate at in Barcelona amongst probably 20 or so restaurants / spots

  • The line is a long wait so be prepared for that but you can try and sneak a drink on the outside patio on the railings or barrels that they have

  • The seafood was pretty bomb-tastic and we especially remember the little shrimpies on the black ink paella

  • We got a chance to drink a bunch of different local wines but didn’t dip into the vermouth even though they are known as a vermouth spot

  • I loved how the menu was a seasonal rotating one based on what was fresh in the market so you’ll always be in for a surprise

  • Food was pretty consistently good and we would definitely go back

  • Go for a nice mid day lunch and enjoy walking around the old town
