Man Man Unagi Tei
Verdict: Fly
Life-changing experience. If you go early enough in the day (usually for lunch), you might even get a stick of raw real wasabi that you can grind on the spot to pair with the most amazingly grilled unagi that you eat 3 ways. You will be full and it’s better than a lot of the stuff I’ve had in Japan.
Item: Large Unagi Set
Cost: $45 SGD for the set
Comments:
One of the best unagi rice dishes I have ever had - even better than most of the stuff I’ve had in Japan
I really loved how they explained that I could have the unagi rice 4 ways:
1st: unagi and rice plain
2nd: unagi rice with scallion, nori, and freshly ground wasabi
3rd: unagi rice with ochazuke (tea) which tasted more like a dashi broth to me but added a ton of complex umami from kelp and seaweed
4th: however way you want to do it!
Service is kind of weird in that you are not allowed to order until everyone from your group is at the restaurant… perhaps an odd Japanese custom
The drinks are actually great value for money - you can get a pint of premium Japanese beer for $5 which is unheard of in Singapore
Definitely going back and definitely bringing friends
