After a whirlwind of culinary adventures, we found ourselves in Singapore’s vibrant Kampong Glam, where cultures converge and the aroma of spices fills the air. Amidst the Malay, Turkish, and Lebanese, eateries, Oud Restaurant beckoned us with its promise of a unique, halal dining experience. Contemporary elevated cuisine. Ambiance

Nestled near the historic Arab area, Oud offers more than just a meal—it’s an experience steeped in culture and ambiance. As you step in, the wafting scents of smoked wood and spices embrace you, creating an immersive environment where each dish is a part of the story. It’s a surround-sound of smells and flavors that transport you to a place where tradition meets contemporary flair.

Concentration at the pass

Food

Oud’s menu is a testament to the global influences that inspire Chef Indra and his team. Every dish is crafted with precision, passion, and a touch of the unexpected. We started our journey with the truffle mushroom pani puri, where the earthiness of the truffle created harmony with the mountain of parmesan, creating a symphony of flavors that was both bold and balanced. The Oud Fries showcased the artistry in layering and texture, each bite revealing the meticulous effort behind them - a true labour of love requiring over 24 hours to prepare this single dish.

But the true star of the show was the Seafood Paella. This dish, as Chef Indra enthusiastically recommended, was a revelation. The prawn sweetness, the subtle smokiness, and the depth of flavor were beautiful. The balance of ingredients, each cooked well, made every bite a journey of its own. If only there was more of a socarrat at the bottom (crispy layer of rice at the bottom of paella pans), would have been perfect!

Service

The service at Oud is as thoughtful as the dishes they serve. Chef Indra’s passion is infectious, and it reflects in every interaction. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely excited to share the stories behind each dish. You can feel the camaraderie in the kitchen, which translates into a dining experience that feels personal and warm. They are not just serving food; they are sharing their craft, their love for innovation, and their commitment to pushing culinary boundaries.

The Team!

Value for Money

Oud offers an elevated, smoky experience that goes beyond the typical dining. While the prices are reflective of the quality and creativity that go into each dish, its certainly a unique experience. The effort, technique, and premium ingredients used justify the cost, making it a worthy occasional splurge for those looking to explore something new and innovative.

Verdict

If you’re in the area, Oud Restaurant is for anyone in Singapore who appreciates culinary artistry and innovation. From the ambiance that draws you in to the flavors that captivate your palate, every aspect of Oud is designed to leave a lasting smoky impression. The Seafood Paella alone is worth the visit, but it’s the overall experience that will have you coming back for more. Oud is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of food, culture, and the endless possibilities that arise when passion meets creativity.
