Phnom Penh
Verdict: Walk
A very hyped up place in Chinatown where you can sample cuisines of south-east Asia. The wings are pretty good but the beef carpaccio is the true winner.
Type: Vietnamese-Cambodian
Location: Vancouver, BC (Chinatown)
Item: Infamous chicken wings, Butter beef carpaccio, Egg noodles, Luc lac rice
Cost: ~$90 for everything and stuffed 3 people
Comments:
Every single person we talked to about what to eat in Vancouver mentioned Phnom Penh - a friend of ours beelines over here as soon as his flight touches down, every time
Every table had some variation of the following orders: chicken wings, carpaccio, and egg noodle or the luc lac rice. It’s clear what the winners on the menu are
Celine’s fav was hands down the chicken wings. We need to learn how to make these for when the craving hits
Jeremy’s favourite was the Butter Carpaccio - the crunchy bits made his eyes go WIDE
They gave some soup for the table that came with the dishes. Beautiful clear soup that was homey feeling
We’d definitely go back whenever we’re in town, but it didn’t quite live up to our expectations - maybe one too many food videos during our research…
