If you’re in Hakone and craving some top-notch dumplings, Gyoza Center is the place to be. This cozy spot is famous for its delicious gyoza, and trust me, it lives up to the hype.
Gyoza Center has a warm, inviting vibe. The wooden tables and chairs are simple but charming. It can be a popular spot in the evening amongst tourists.
We tried the cold tofu, which had this huge glob of grated ginger and bonito flakes on top. It was ok. The pan-fried gyoza (Stamina) was extremely punchy and almost overly garlicky. Soup gyoza was nothing memorable.
BUT, there is an incredible dish at Gyoza Center and it is the stuffed, fried chicken wings… those are amazing. Image these stuffed, perfectly fried, moist, juicy, good seasoning, and acidity from some lemon juice squeezed on top. It had everything you wanted in a single bite of a wing. Definitely the star of the meal and I would come back just for those alone.
