Jin Feng Braised Pork Rice

Braised Pork Belly on Rice with various other dishes in the background (Braised Pork on Rice, Ginseng Chicken Soup, and Braised Pork Dry Noodle)

Verdict: Walk

Some of the best taiwanese food for a great price. Little out of the way from main stuff so would walk there… but if in neighbourhood definitely check it out as a pit stop.

Comments:

  • At the first glance, this place is utter chaos - workers rushing around you with hot dishes, yelling out orders as they go while customers are squished and hunched over their tables, but once you sit a while and eat the food, it all starts to make sense. It’s clearly a family institution where everyone has a role and they’ve built a system that works for them.

  • It’s a true local spot and home to the best braised pork rice we had our whole trip in Taiwan.

  • Meat was so tender and spiced to perfection. Personally I loved the thick piece of belly pork, but the minced pork with the rice was J’s favourite.

  • Our friend @meyerbelles adored the braised pork dry noodles with the chilli sauce

  • Lots of options to choose from as you order through the app - and not just pork options. Chicken also available - the chicken ginseng soup was clean & gave us life.
