Yong He Soy Milk King

Mountain of Chinese doughnuts

Verdict: Walk

Feels like one of the most authentic Taiwanese experiences you could get. We loved the staff that were dressed in uniform and manning their specific stations - doing 1 thing amazingly well each. Food is great too. The soy milk wins us over.

Chefs at work in an open air kitchen

Comments:

  • This place is a vibe - you have each person manning a station on their own and you can tell they are experts at their craft

  • I love the open kitchen concept where you can see everything being made in front of you, but better yet this is open kitchen on the street corner!

  • This is an extremely affordable meal and I believe everyone can find something that suits their tastes: from the sweet and fresh soy milk to the savoury juicy soup dumplings

  • Call outs: the youtiao are very fresh and crispy; the xiao long baos are more stuffed with meat than usual (I wouldn’t say it’s the best one out there but it’s a more filling one and very good value for money)

  • My favourite part of this place is that you can get in and out pretty quickly while also observing how the chefs were working and what they were doing
