Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop

Double scoop of Rich Vanilla (L) and Burnt Fig, Honeycomb, & Caramel (R)

Verdict: Walk

Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop could be worth a visit if you’re in the area and a fan of her cooking. The ice cream, specifically the Burnt Fig, Honeycomb, & Caramel flavour, is divine. Try a sip or two of her wines if you’re here, but it’s not a winery that immediately comes to mind when you mention the Barossa Valley.

Comments:

  • The DECADENCE. That’s all I have to say about the Burnt Fig, Honeycomb, & Caramel ice cream. The perfect balance of creamy, sweet, and bitter. Exactly what we needed on a hot day to wrap up a busy winery tour. This is a MUST eat and came highly recommended from our tour guide, Nate, from Trailhopper’s Hop On & Hop Off Wine tour (not sponsored).

  • What would you expect from the Maggie Beer afterall? You can probably tell I’m obsessed with Masterchef Australia - easily the best of the Masterchefs. Convince me I’m wrong.

  • Despite the refreshing and unique pear liqueur, we would skip the wine tasting next time and try more of Maggie’s food & treats.

  • We wish we had more time to check out their farm experience and cooking demonstrations, but alas, we’ll save it for our next visit.

  • If you’re limited on time like us, it was fun to check out their prized pheasants and roaming wild peacocks around their property. There’s also a pretty view of their little pond with some turtles swimming around at the back of the shop.

  • Check out the other wineries we visited on the tour: Lambert Estate Wines & Yalumba
