Old Bibik’s Peranakan Kitchen
Verdict: Walk
Indeed some of the best Peranakan food that we have had in Singapore. We love this place for its homestyle eating and unpretentiousness. Visit when in Joo Chiat.
Type: Peranakan (Malay-Chinese)
Location: Singapore (Joo Chiat)
Item: Omelette, Beef Rendang, Mutton Rendang, Chicken
Cost: 130$ for 4 people (very full stomachs)
Comments:
Overall great food and some dishes were standout for sure
I thought the black sauce chicken was super unique and I hear it apparently takes days to make which was cool to see
We had a friend say that the beef rendang was a top one they had in Singapore so that is a nice compliment
Omelette was surprisingly fluffy yet crunchy at the same time / the technique when frying it must have been perfected, so I was quite impressed with that dish
I would come back when I feel like eating Peranakan food for sure although the prices were a little higher than I expected them to be
