St. Viateur Bagels

Run

Putting cream cheese and smoked salmon on the bagels on a random bench

Verdict: Run

Our favourite bagels in Montreal are from famous St. Viateur. With multiple locations, and sometimes open 24h a day, you should always buy a fresh batch.

Comments:

  • Flagship location of the longest running bagel shop in MTL.

  • Seriously, there’s nothing like a fresh, hot out of the oven Montréal bagel. Especially ones from St. Viateur.

  • Crunchy on the outside, fluffy and soft in the middle.

  • Can’t go wrong with their classic sesame - eat it plain or with cream cheese and some lox - I’m drooling just thinking about it.

  • Also loved their blueberry bagels - splurge for this specialty.

  • In terms of their all-dressed… I’d skip it. The garlic always tastes burnt to me on these MTL bagel versions.

  • There is competition between St. Viateur, Fairmount, and R.E.A.L Bagel. It’s a tough one, what you do think?
