Sumac
Verdict: Run
Some of the best salads in Montreal - middle eastern style. Always a hit when we come here. This place in St. Henri is a staple in our diet.
Type: Middle Eastern
City: Montréal, QC (Saint Henri)
Item: Basically everything on their menu
Cost: $10-14 for pitas, $17-21 for plates, options for Family plates
Comments:
Sumac was one of my first loves in MTL. A few friends of ours hit it up as their first stop and couldn’t stop talking about it, even after they went back to Toronto!
The chicken shawarma even got my Asian family’s seal of approval - do you know how rare this is?!
My go-to meal: chicken shawarma (either plate or pita) with the fennel and cauliflower salad, spicy carrots salad, and the toum.
The Toum is a MUST. I could eat just their pita chips with the toum.
Great falafels and eggplant for non-meat eaters.
Beef kefta is also good, but the shawarma is definitely the star in my opinion.
I’ve been too many times.
