Two Men Bagel House
Verdict: Walk
Extremely high quality bagel right in eastern Singapore. Reminds us of Montreal and the good stuff. Definitely worth a try when you go to Joo Chiat.
Item: Bagel sandwiches - Firebird, Ponyo of the East - & Australian beers
Cost: ~$20 for each sandwich, ~$8-10 for drinks
Comments:
You can take the girl out of Montreal, but you can’t take the Montreal out of the girl. Especially when it comes to bagels. Inspired by St Viateur’s famous carb, Two Men Bagel House makes sure I can have a piece of home in Singapore.
Atmosphere was bumping and there was barely an empty seat in the place. Cool industrial warehouse vibe with a playlist that I wouldn’t have been surprised if Jeremy had put it together - hit after hit.
Ponyo of the East was their open faced sandwich with raw tuna, gochujang, edamame, sesame, and tobikko. Recommended bagel is there All Sorts aka Everything (as we fondly know it as in North America). Fresh & light.
The Firebird on a sesame bagel was exactly what my body needed - a hot fried chicken sandwich with brussel sprouts, garlic, seaweed, pickles, and maple syrup. Crispy, juicy, saucy - be prepared to make a mess. Bagel is chewier than I’m used to, but I know I will be craving this, and you can bet I’ll be back to satisfy that craving here.
