I have been SEARCHING for this prawn cracker. It has alluded me at every previous market we’ve visited, so you can bet that I wasn’t leaving until I got my hands on one.
Once you find this shop, there are 2 lines - one to purchase the ticket, then another line to collect the cracker
Make sure you have cash. You’ll insert the cash for a ticket indicating your choice of cracker. Don’t lose this ticket! It will be exchanged for a picto-ticket from the staff (either Octopus or Shrimp). The staff will trade this picto-ticket with you later for your long-awaited cracker
It takes some time to make each cracker - even though they have 2 cracker makers going at the same time - so a little patience is necessary, but it was worth it
This shrimp cracker is HUGE. Bigger than my head. I really enjoyed crunching away on it
- Cracker parts are thin, crunchy, well-seasoned (hint of seafood flavour, but not super shrimpy like the thick pink shrimp chips you can find in stores)
- The shrimp part itself of the cracker is more chewy - so less snap, but still good. I prefer the cracker part
The octopus cracker is about half the size of the shrimp one (¥650)- seems like this line goes faster because of this (for those hedging their bets with timing)
We’d eat this again in a heartbeat
