Yokozuna Tonkatsu
Verdict: Walk
Type: Katsu (bread-crusted meat)
Location: Tatekawa, Tokyo
Address: 3 Chome-1-11 Tatekawa, Tokyo 130-0023, Japan
Must Try Items: Thick Pork Cutlet (Katsu) Curry (sumo size aka 2 katsu) - ¥2,800 (~$17.87 USD or $24.12 SGD)
Comments:
Each katsu set came with white rice and some cabbage. Choose your preferred leanness level.
Accidentally ordered sumo size dishes (this is why you clarify things before you order oops). Sumo size is an additional cutlet (katsu)
Barely touched the rice with how filling the 2 katsus were
Surprised by how good the curry was, especially when eaten with the katsu itself. I’m usually not a fan of Japanese curry. The curry helped a lot when eating the fillet katsu. On its own was a tad bit dry.
The fattiness of the loin katsu didn’t need the curry. So we should have switched our orders
Didn’t know at the time that we needed to reserve earlier to see the live sumo demo, so definitely call ahead when you go!
Even though there wasn’t a show, they projected sumo matches to watch while we ate
Decent meal for the price. Would love to go back for the live show
