Comments:

  • You can bet that the first thing we went to eat after landing was banh mi. Not only is it one of the foods Hoi An is famous for, but this place was put on the map by Anthony Bourdain.

  • There are 2 floors of seating inside. Lower floor is definitely more chaotic with the crowds of tourists & the staff bringing plates from the kitchen to the front counter

  • Our first banh mi in Hoi An really set the tone for this trip. Demolished in seconds. The exterior baguette bread was the perfect level of crispy where it wouldn’t cut your mouth but gave the satisfying crunch. And the interior was so soft that it melted in your mouth.

  • J preferred the mix meats banh mi, while mine was the pork hock. The pepper pate kept me coming back.

Menu highlighting Anthony Bourdain’s famous visit

  • Incredibly friendly staff. Even gave us a recommendation on a tailor (another thing Hoi An is known for).

    • If you’re in the market for some custom clothes, we highly recommend going to Se Se’s - Anna really took care of us. Unbeatable customer service and our pieces were ready in 24-48 hours (not sponsored)

  • Bring cash. They don’t accept card, but they will do cash exchange if you’re in a pinch (i.e. switching American dollars or other currencies to Vietnamese dong).

  • Don’t let the photos fool you, every other time we passed by this place, it had an incredibly long line-up. The locals do say however that Bánh Mì Phượng is catered for tourists. If you check this place out, let us know what you think!
