A staple Japanese dessert to try when you’re in Osaka, but available at multiple locations across the city (even at the local 7-11). You get sensations of crunchy, soft, cold, and warm all in one bite.

Must Try Items: Melon pan with sakura ice cream (¥800)

Cost: regular melon pan was ¥400. Add a few hundred yen when you add various ice cream flavours (vanilla was +¥100, whereas sakura was +¥400)

Comments:

  • Iconic food stall for a must-eat Osaka snack.

  • Warm bun with a crunchy top and soft insides, contrasted with the cold ice cream sandwiched within. A delicious combination.

  • It took longer to order the melon pan than to devour it…

  • Ice cream flavours including vanilla, green tea, strawberry and cherry blossom. We had to choose cherry blossom, a rarer flavour to find outside of Japan.
